Be BearWise – Keep Bears Wild and Our Community Safe

Living in Edwards means sharing our beautiful surroundings with wildlife — including bears. The BearWise program helps communities like ours prevent conflicts and keep bears wild.

BearWise Basics:

  • Never feed or approach bears.
  • Secure trash, recycling, and pet food.
  • Take down bird feeders when bears are active.
  • Clean grills and store them where bears can’t reach.
  • Share sightings with neighbors to raise awareness.

Once bears find easy food near homes, they return — creating danger for both people and bears. Preventing access is the best way to protect them.
